| Jip and Janneke is the most famous figures in Dutch children stories. Their adventures have been translated in many languages, except in the US since they think it's racism because the characters are drawn black :) Actually, it was illustrated ingeniously by Fiep Westendorp as silhouettes of a boy and a girl, with body and face expression that has successfully amused all ages :)
Every year, the Dutch Post Office issues special stamps, from which profit is intended for social purpose. This one is the "kinderpostzegel" from 1999, featuring the famous Jip en Janneke. More about Jip en Janneke and the great people behind is in www.annie-mg.com |
